Here are some Japanese words used in the automobile industry and All Engineers should be aware.
1. Kaizen (改善) – Continuous improvement.
2. Kanban (看板) – Visual scheduling system to manage workflow.
3. Jidoka (自働化) – Automation with a human touch, focusing on quality control.
4. Heijunka (平準化) – Production leveling to meet demand while reducing waste.
5. Andon (アンドン) – Visual alert system for highlighting issues on the production line.
6. Gemba (現場) – The real place where work happens (e.g., factory floor).
7. Muda (無駄) – Waste or inefficiency.
8. Poka-Yoke (ポカヨケ) – Error-proofing or mistake-proofing techniques.
9. Hoshin Kanri (方針管理) – Strategic planning and execution.
10. Genchi Genbutsu (現地現物) – Go and see the actual site or issue to understand it.
